i was told by the preacher man
you can’t get to the moon lad
least you count backwards lad
you gotta know
you gotra know
your numbers backwards lad
i stared into the eyes of a skull
i knew evil for i saw its mind
and the skull to me was kind
what did i understand i did mull
the drink swept me away from land
i was drowning and the angles sang
in the heavens they didnt give a dang
twas the damned that gaveth me a hand
i was told by the preacher man
you can’t get to the moon lad
least you count backwards lad
you gotta know
you gotra know
your numbers backwards lad
carved a pawn i was moved from black to white
and when i was well and truely beaten at life
i choose to abandon all the sacrificing strife
i sat and watched the kings smite the mite
i finger painted panoramas of wrongs
yet the world justified my artistic view
my foot prints in the sand spelt adieu
cause theres no afterlife where all belong
i was told by the preacher man
you can’t get to the moon lad
least you count backwards lad
you gotta know
you gotra know
your numbers backwards lad

As mentioned before, your words have a very melodic flow to them.
As someone who’s written a lot of lyrics to music and vice versa. I could hear a distinct melodic form jump out of the page to me.
Thanks for sharing.

That has always been my experience. They the world marks “damned” are often the only ones who have any β€, ‘cuz they know about pain and rejection. Always been that way. Like Rahab the prostitute…’cuz the world doesn’t see things as they really are and always judge the outside, and harshly. Twas a great line…
That said, I’m going hiking this a.m. in the woods in the rain (with my coffee)…swing on a few vines, gather some banana leaf fronds and return for some dizzy.

Rain stopped before we got there, but kids and I got in a good hike. The creek was really high water, which made for some fun rock crossing…would have swung over it, but no vines…What is this world coming to? I got great pictures though…
Human is overrated.ππΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏ

As I was reading this, I couldn’t help but turn the words into a song in my head.

cool , how did it sound ? what kind of beat did you sing along to ? ππ

It was a R& B 1-2-3-4 beat. I just tapped my foot and sang the words in my head. It was natural reading your poem. Not perfect in my self rendition at all, but it felt like a song. The 1-2-3-4 beat did not always fit, but I made it work. Great poem (song).

There are no bananas on the moon either…not even cheese. The moon is kind of pretty to look at up there in the night sky, bg. But really, who would want to go there? I can’t live without bananas.
The world tears up the places where bananas grow also. Did you know that, bg? Bananas grow in big, tropical gardens. The world is constantly tearing them down…PROGRESS. Did you know, bg, that HUMAN PROGRESS is the number one destroyer of banana leaf fronds?
Explains all the cold feet, not to speak of the cold hearts, in the world, doesn’t it.
Of course, I’m just a little monk who loves big, tropical banana tree gardens. What do I know?

it is our nature little monk, as we like to kill what we try to save ππ

How ’bout simply loving them and not trying to “save” them. I have enough trouble keeping myself safe up in the tree tops whilst I swing away on the vines.
“Save” is where the ego comes in. “Love” (the PASSIONATE KIND…yes, it is rare…LOL) is giving and really humble, I think.
Primate logic…I’m a little monk with a BIG banana leaf frond…πΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏπΏ

oh little monk im only an observer ,and yes i always have thought life and the world is very simple and i as well wonder why humans over complicate existence little monk . ππππ

Do you want my list?…Lol
Love is a simple thing. Passion is an amazing thing. People who love with passion are the rarest of all things. As are people who make you laugh…
Little monks who wrap their arms and legs around you and hold on tightly…well, try and run the math on that one…

Had that foolish preacher man been wise, he would have realized that their are no gardens on the moon. There are gardens. But not on the moon…Lol (of course, you know that)
The world always justifies wrongs, because the world has no gardens; just concrete jungles and metal cages….endless, mindless, hopeless…
There are gardens. ONE has to know where to look, if ONE likes gardening, that is. :cuz real gardens are priceless treasures. Where else is ONE going to find a bee?

Brilliant in both the writing and the plot set-up…You are truly precious…
